Craig Chatwin appointed as Head of Birmingham Building Consultancy

BNP Paribas Real Estate, part of the BNP Paribas Group, a global leader in financial services, today announced that Craig Chatwin has been appointed as Head of Birmingham Building Consultancy.

Craig joins following almost a decade at Cushman & Wakefield, where he held the role of Associate Building Surveyor. Here, he worked for both investors and occupiers across the Midlands, and nationally delivered a wide range of building surveying instructions.

Chatwin has acted for public and private sector clients and has extensive experience in project management, dilapidations, and technical due diligence. He has a specialism in the student accommodation sector. Notable clients he has worked with include Greystar, Eon, Ministry of Justice and the Department for Work and Pensions.

In this new role, Craig will work closely with Ian Bragg, UK Head of Building Consultancy, to expand BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Midlands footprint. Together, they aim to deliver innovative and sustainable property solutions, helping clients maximise value in their real estate strategies amid shifting market dynamics.

Ian Bragg, Head of Building Consultancy at BNP Paribas Real Estate, commented: “Craig’s appointment strengthens our ability to provide exceptional expertise across the Midlands, a region that continues to demonstrate resilience and opportunities for growth with significant regeneration projects such as Paradise and Smithfield, and infrastructure investments boosting connectivity and urban regeneration.

“His deep understanding of the local market and technical expertise align with our mission to deliver client-centric solutions that add real value in an evolving property landscape.”

Craig Chatwin, Head of Birmingham Building Consultancy at BNP Paribas Real Estate, added: “I join BNP Paribas Real Estate with a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the Birmingham Building Consultancy team. I look forward to working with our clients to deliver impactful, long-term solutions.”

This appointment comes at a time of strategic investment and expansion for BNP Paribas Real Estate’s building consultancy services. With the Midlands seeing sustained demand for advisory expertise in areas such as ESG compliance, redevelopment, and cost management, the business is well-positioned to support clients navigating the complexities of today’s property market.

Craig’s appointment follows Vanessa Hale being promoted to the UK Executive Committee as Head of Research & Strategy, Tanisha Krishnan’s promotion to Head of Workspace, and Freddie Biss as Head of Occupier Business Development, demonstrating BNP Paribas Real Estate’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its capabilities, connecting clients with opportunities, and delivering sustainable property solutions.
