UK Retail Focus - May 2017The political landscape of the UK continued to change in Q1 2017, further muddying the consumer outlook. However, our outlook for the UK economy in the near term remains resilient.
Report key findings:
Occupier: The period of anticipated inflation began to bite in Q1, with average store prices increasing by 3.3% in March 2017. As a result, retail sales experienced their first quarterly decline since 2013.
Investment: Retail investment endured a slow start to the year, with only £1.59bn spent on the sector, a 21.5% decline on the same period in 2016. The retail warehouse segment was the best performer in Q1, with volumes up by 61% y-o-y.
