Understanding the ways in which different people are affected and taking a holistic approach to positive mental health is a fundamental pillar of our Health and Wellbeing Programme, which is at the forefront of our agenda over the coming months and beyond.
With this in mind, we are delighted to sign the Time to Change Employer Pledge.
Mental health affects one in four British workers, through conditions such as anxiety, depression and stress every year, and 95% of employees who call in sick with stress give a different reason. In signing the pledge, we are joining more than 800 employers in England, of all sizes and across all sectors.
It demonstrates our commitment to continue to improve how we approach mental health in the workplace, ensure that support is available to every employee and create a safe environment where everyone can share any mental health concerns they may have. We will put in place measures to help reduce the stigma around mental health, identify and reduce workplace stressors and make available any resources necessary to reduce stress-related risks at work.

Signing the Time to Change Employer Pledge is the first step towards achieving this goal, and the start of a rigorous and transparent implementation plan.
