2023 was the hottest year on record globally – and probably the hottest year for 125,000 years1.
The effects of climate change – heatwaves, floods, extreme weather – are becoming more frequent and more severe, not just elsewhere in the world but throughout the UK too2.
Analysis for the Climate Change Committee indicates that at least eight climate change risks may each have a cost to the UK of more than £1 billion a year by 20503. This includes risks to businesses from flooding and risks to health and wellbeing from high temperatures.

Jason also examines how farming, food production, and land use are being affected, along with the challenges the industry faces in mitigating these impacts.
