Our Heritage

The origins of BNP Paribas Real Estate date back to February 2001 following the merger of BNP and PARIBAS. Since then, BNP Paribas Real Estate has built on its reputation in France to establish a growing presence across Europe.

Our UK-based property consultancy, formerly known as Atisreal, joined the group in 2004 and adopted the BNP Paribas Real Estate name on 1 June 2009. Atisreal itself was formed during the 1990s when the Vendome Rome Group acquired three European leaders: Weatherall Green & Smith in the UK, Auguste-Thouard in France and Muller in Germany.

The origins of Weatherall Green & Smith date back much further - Messrs Weatherall and Green having started a practice in Chancery Lane, London in 1860 mainly concerned with the settlement of compensation cases arising in the acquisition of land for railways, docks, waterways, defence and road works.

The business they founded is now a key part of a truly international organisation backed by one of the world’s leading banks.
