Financing new waste infrastructure - August 2011
A report by the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group.- New waste and resource management infrasturcture is crucial to the UK's environmental, social and economic well-being. To meet European landfill diversion targets alone, we need to build 8.8 million tonnes of new residual waste treatment capacity by 2020.
- In order to meet and exceed EU landfill diversion targets, waste infrastructure needs £8 billion of investment by 2020.
- This report makes recommendatons to central government, local authorities, the waste industry and the finance community.
