- They were able to take a site from a 2,300 sq m office to a 9,500 sq m hotel in a location that had heritage and viewing corridor issues.
- Following a public consultation exercise, Endurance Land obtained support for the development from the local community.
- Significant savings in S106 costs by proceeding with the approved scheme which fell below the City of London's threshold for triggering financial contributions.
The challenges
- The Minories hotel was a major development project for Endurance Land and as such they needed expert planning advice to ensure their project was a success.
What we did
- Our robust strategic planning advice gave Endurance Land the confidence that a large scale hotel scheme would be feasible on the site.
- We advised on the design parameters for the scheme and undertook pre-application discussions with the City of London prior to submitting the application and negotiating its approval.
- We helped Endurance Land resolve complex planning and non-planning issues and importantly liaised with the entire team to ensure the project moved forward.
- We undertook public consultation to engage with the local community and to respond to their concerns to obtain their support for the scheme.
